How is COTW handling the current health crisis?
Updated February 1, 2022
As provincial restrictions have eased, Camp of the Woods is now open to the public. Our staff team are busy on site and ready to receive calls and emails as usual. Please feel free to direct all inquiries to office@cotwcanada.com or by phone at (807)938-6469. Camps and events will be shared online, via email, and in the community so campers and families will know what is coming up!
We are pleased to announce our hopeful plans for this summer! Visit www.cotwcanada.com/Summer-Camps-2022 for all the details. Our plans for in-person and on-site camps are dependant on decisions yet to be made by the Northwestern Health Unit, the province of Ontario and the federal government. We are cautiously optimistic that we will be able to offer programming with required COVID-19 safety protocols in place starting in July. It looks like the Canada/US border is going to remain open to fully vaccinated nonessential travel, so for our American friends, we may get to see you this summer! We are so thankful for all our campers, local families, and dedicated volunteers who want to come back to Troutfly Lake. Check back here for details as we receive updated information from the health authorities.
Like you, we cannot forecast how this situation will play out, but the COTW Camp Director and Board of Directors are dedicated to monitoring the COVID-19 situation closely and staying up to date with any new information that may impact our response or decisions. We are taking all recommendations and restrictions provided by Ontario Health Services as well as provincial and federal authorities and are acting upon them immediately. As of March 21, Ontario has dropped mask mandates. We encourage guests to do proceed as you are comfortable--mask or no mask--and we will be respectful of that choice.
It looks like the Canada/US border is going to remain open to fully vaccinated nonessential travel, so for our American friends, we may get to see you this summer! We are encouraging anyone unable to physically come and help at COTW to consider making a donation toward our financial needs instead. There are always ways to get involved, even if it isn't here on-site!
Have Hope. We at COTW are still hopeful that we will be able to open our doors to campers and guests later this summer. Lots of planning has already gone into our programming for this year, and we are hopeful we are allowed to work with our campers.
Pray. “Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s People.” (Eph. 6:18) There are many things we can “be alert” to in our world right now; in fact, you are probably being bombarded with news alerts. Turn alerts into prayers. “Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you.” (Ps. 55:22) Take a moment now to turn this COVID-19 alert into a prayer for Camp of the Woods.
Be Generous. Be generous with whatever God has entrusted to you. Whether finances, food, time to talk, toilet paper, whatever! Please have a community mindset; bless your neighbor, encourage and support one another. If your family happens to have financial stability in these economically trying times; support your local church, local businesses, ministries like COTW, and others who have had significant costs and revenue losses due to cancellations. Every little bit helps.
We are committed to doing our part to avoid the spread of this virus. We pray for health and safety for our community, our province and our country.
Thank you for your interest in and your prayers for this ministry.
